Dr. T. Pearse Lyons - Founder and President, Alltech
Dr. T. Pearse Lyons is the founder and president of Alltech, a top five animal health company that employs 4,700 people and conducts business in more than 120 countries. Founded in 1980 with $10,000 capital, the company has grown to annual sales of $2.1 billion.
Dr. Lyons is widely recognized as an innovative industry leader. His scientific expertise, combined with an acute business sense, helped revolutionize the animal feed industry through the introduction of natural ingredients to feed. Now in its fourth decade of business, Alltech improves the health and performance of people, animals and plants through natural nutrition and scientific innovation.
Dr. Lyons received his bachelor’s degree from University College Dublin, Ireland, and obtained his master’s and doctoral degrees at the University of Birmingham, England. He later worked as a biochemist for Irish Distillers before founding Alltech. Since then, he has authored more than 20 books and numerous research papers in scientific journals.
Dr. Lyons was acknowledged as leading one of the top 100 fastest-growing high tech companies by World Trade Magazine. He has been recognized for his contributions to science and
industry and has been awarded honorary doctorates from Dublin City University, Ireland;University College Dublin, Ireland; the University of Plymouth, England; Heriot-Watt University, Scotland; and the University of Kentucky, Centre College, Eastern Kentucky University, the University of Pikeville and Northern Kentucky University, United States.
In 2012, Dr. Lyons was named Business Person of the Year by Business and Finance, was honored as one of Irish America’s Business 100 and received the prestigious Ireland-U.S. Council Award for Outstanding Achievement. In 2013, he was selected to receive the Commander’s Award for Public Service, a rarely presented official U.S. Army medal. He was also given the Gold Medal for Industry and Commerce, the Royal Dublin Society’s flagship award. In 2014, he was honored with the Sir Michael Smurfit Business Achievement Award from the Ireland Chamber of Commerce - USA as well as the prestigious Henry Clay Medallion, whose past recipients include Ted Turner, Itzhak Perlman, Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein and several of the United States’ most respected elected officials.
Dr. Lyons continues to serve on the editorial board of Critical Reviews in Biotechnology and was named in 2014 to the editorial board of the Journal of the Institute of Brewing. Dr. Lyons spearheaded Alltech’s commitment to international equestrian sport, beginning with the Alltech FEI World Equestrian GamesTM 2010 in Lexington, Kentucky, which led to his receipt of the Commonwealth of Kentucky’s first-ever Legacy Award in 2011, and including the record-breaking Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™2014 in Normandy, France.
Kirk Hilbrecht - Presdient, JUMP
Kirk Hilbrecht is the current President of JUMP, a Louisville based marketing firm that serves small to medium sized businesses.
Before his work with LEAP, Hilbrecht was Director of Public Relations/Affairs for the Kentucky National Guard. In this role he directed the strategic and tactical communication involving the 13,000 personnel that comprised Kentucky’s Department of Military Affairs, Kentucky Army and Air National Guard and civilian contracted activities. During Hilbrecht’s tenure, the Kentucky PAO office was cited 5 years in a row as being the most published public affairs shop of all 54 states, territories, and district.
Prior to Hilbrecht’s active duty tour, he was President-Owner of Videobred, a premiere, full-service, video production facility. Before joining Videobred, Hilbrecht was SVP at Doe-Anderson advertising where he co-built and managed Doe-Anderson Interactive.
In addition to his work with LEAP, Hilbrecht is also very active in his community, serving as Mayor of Crossgate Kentucky, and is active in the Kentucky Wounded Hero Project.
Paul Lauritzen - Vice President of Manufacturing, Big Ass Solutions
Paul Lauritzen is the Vice President of Manufacturing for Big Ass Solutions, the world’s preeminent designer and manufacturer of products focused on comfort and energy efficiency including fans, LED fixtures, control systems and more. Lauritzen first joined company when it was founded in 1999. He has served in various positions across the organization, including Director of Business Development, Director of Sales and Marketing, and Vice President of International Business.
In his current role, Lauritzen oversees the manufacturing operations for industrial and commercial products. He has extensive experience in international operations and business expansion and sits on the Board of Directors for the World Trade Center Kentucky. He previously led the development of five foreign subsidiaries and expanded exports of Big Ass Solutions’ products and services into over 120 countries. His expertise and knowledge of the industry has played a vital role in the strategic success of Big Ass Solutions.
Prior to joining Big Ass Solutions, Lauritzen served as a financial consultant in the securities industry for Hilliard Lyons.
Mr. Lauritzen is a graduate of the University of Kentucky where he received his B.B.A. in Finance. Lauritzen currently lives in Lexington, Ky., with his wife Trisha, who is also a Big Ass Solutions’ employee, and his two children Christian and Emma. In his spare time he enjoys golfing, boating and spending time with family and friends.
